Prominent Christian author and speaker Annie F. Downs has announced her engagement to drummer JW Jaeger, with Jaeger describing their pending nuptials as evidence of “how good God is.”

"I’m so happy I get to marry this man,” Downs wrote in a Facebook post Sunday that also included photos of the couple and audio with lyrics to the song “All I Know” by Tors.

“All I know is it’s the best thing I’ll do — to live my life at the same time as you. To share your hand, your bed, and the stars. To be your friend ’til death do us part,” the song’s lyrics state.

Jaeger shared a separate message on social media Sunday announcing the engagement.

“One quiet weekend this spring, I got to ask my best friend, my favorite person, the love of my whole actual life — if she would spend the rest of her life with me. And she said YES! A day started out in nature and ended with friends around the table smiling, laughing, rejoicing and saying — look at how good God is,” he stated.

“Annie, thank you for loving me and for going on our journey with me. You light up every single room you step your tiny little feet in. And I’m so proud to be on your arm. Through every season. Thank you, Jesus. THANK YOU! Thank You for keeping our promises to us.”

Like Downs, Jaeger shared a series of engagement photos. The images selected by both differed slightly but showed the same sequence of events. Jaeger got down on one knee, proposed, read from a prepared speech, and the couple embraced after he asked the question.

Several photos, taken at an undisclosed outdoor location in Nashville, Tennessee, include close-ups of the engagement ring on Downs’ hand. While most of the images are in color, a handful are in black and white.

Downs has written several books, including Speak Love: Your Words Can Change the World, 100 Days to Brave, Let’s All Be Brave: Living Life with Everything You Have and Looking for Lovely: Collecting the Moments that Gather. She has also written children’s books, including What Sounds Fun to You?, So Happy to Know You! and Where Did TJ Go?

She hosts the podcast “That Sounds Fun" where she discusses a range of topics including, books, faith, food, travel. 

As noted in his Instagram biography, Jaeger is a touring and recording drummer who works with Christian singer Charles Billingsley. He also performs at weddings and events.

News of the engagement comes about two months after Downs announced she was dating Jaeger. In a Feb. 16 Facebook post, she said she met “a really good man,” noting they began dating after meeting in spring 2025 at a Women of Joy event, where she was a speaker and he was a drummer. She credited a mutual friend, Lisa Harper, with introducing them.

“I’ve never had this much fun in my whole life,” she wrote. “He’s the most humble, silly, kind, loving, hilarious, brave man I’ve ever met. He loves Jesus and fun and me. I love him too. It’s the best. It hasn’t been a perfect nine months. We’ve worked through a lot already and will continue to. He’s dating a human. So am I. But God has been kind to us as we navigate our humanness and learn each other and care for each other’s wounds — old or new.”
