Daystar viewers are mourning the death of Joni Lamb, the co-founder and president of the popular Christian broadcasting network, who died Thursday at age 65 after battling a series of health issues, prompting an outpouring of tributes.

In a statement announcing her death, Daystar said Lamb had been privately dealing with serious health problems that worsened after a recent back injury.

“Joni’s love for the Lord and for the people we serve shaped this ministry from the beginning,” the Daystar Board of Directors said. “We grieve her loss, and we are grateful for the legacy of faith she leaves behind.”

Here are five reactions to Lamb’s death from her family members, ministry leaders and televangelists who remembered her faith, leadership and decades-long influence in Christian broadcasting.

Joni Lamb’s son, Jonathan, and his wife, Suzy, responded to his mother's death by posting messages on social media.

Jonathan Lamb posted a photo on his socials of him as child with his parents, with the caption “Thank you for your prayers. God will carry us through.”

Meanwhile, Suzy Lamb claimed on X that, as Joni Lamb was nearing the end, “we weren’t informed of anything” and that people close to Joni Lamb “knew she was dying yesterday evening … they didn’t call Jonathan to come say goodbye.”

“We were down the road, but weren’t given a call to say goodbye. We forgive them. Thank you for praying for Jonathan,” she tweeted.

Jonathan's sisters, Rachel and Rebecca, did not issue a public statement, but the latter reposted Daystar's statement along with her mother's photo on her Instagram

In 2024, Jonathan and Suzy had claimed in an interview with The Roys Report that they believed a family member, identified as “Pete,” had sexually abused their daughter and that Joni Lamb might have told their daughter to stop talking about the alleged abuse.

Joni Lamb insisted that her granddaughter had accused a boy at her preschool of touching her and not “Pete.” Police investigated but never filed any charges against the family member.

Joni Lamb would later claim that her son engaged in a “smear campaign” against her as part of an effort to take control of Daystar after the death of Joni’s husband, Marcus Lamb, in 2021.
