Description
You are invited to an unforgettable evening of wind and brass music on February 6 with VSO Winds and Brass, led by Maestro Ken Selden, Director of Orchestral Studies at PSU School of Music & Theater, and featuring PSU music professors Daniel Partridge and Barbara Heilmair. The Love of Music celebrates the brilliance, charm, and expressive range of the wind and brass repertoire, performed by some of the region’s finest musicians.
The program opens with Rossini’s sparkling Overture to The Barber of Seville (arr. Sedlak), followed by the elegant lyricism of Gounod’s Petite Symphonie. After intermission, enjoy the radiant warmth of Richard Strauss’s Serenade, and a powerful finale with Louis Spohr’s Nonet, a masterwork of Romantic expression and virtuosic interplay.
Join us for an evening of beauty, passion, and inspired ensemble playing- an energizing celebration of music you won’t want to miss.
