The latest corporate giant to flee California is Public Storage, which announced Feb. 12 that the company will be moving to Texas after more than 50 years in the Golden State.
The largest self-storage brand in the U.S. is planning to move its corporate headquarters from Glendale, California, to Frisco, a suburb north of Dallas.
With more than 3,500 self-storage facilities across the U.S., Public Storage has more than 5,000 employees companywide and reported revenue around $4.82 billion in 2025, up nearly 3% from 2024.
In addition to the headquarters move, Public Storage announced a new strategic initiative focused on leadership transition, as Tom Boyle, the company’s CFO, was set to replace Joe Russell as CEO in March as part of the restructuring effort.
“The opportunity ahead for Public Storage has never been stronger,” Boyle said in a press release, adding, “... I am energized by the leadership and platform that we are building within Public Storage to lead our industry’s next era.”
